"Play in Our Backyard" Geocaching Contest

Starting September 1, 2011 and running through September 4, 2012, North Dakota Parks and Recreation will be holding the "Play in Our Backyard Geocaching Contest." To enter visit a participating state park, find the cache and collect a contest sticker which then can be placed on a contest entry form for a chance to win prizes.

Contest caches can be found in Lewis & Clark, Lake Sakakawea, Fort Stevenson, Cross Ranch, Fort Abraham Lincoln, Lake Metigoshe, Fort Ransom, Beaver Lake, Turtle River, Grahams Island and Icelandic State Parks.

Prizes

  • 1st prize- Five first prize winners will receive a 2-night cabin stay or 7 free nights of camping at any ND state park.
  • 2nd prize- Ten second prize winners will receive a 1-night cabin stay or 5 free nights of camping in any ND state park.
Geocache
 
  • 3rd prize- Fifteen third prize winners will receive 2 free nights of camping in any ND state park.
 

Contest rules

  • Geocachers must have a user profile associated with the official geocaching website, www.geocaching.com and abide by the rules, regulations and ethics as it is explained on the official geocaching website.
  • Participating parks may have more than one geocache; however, only one cache will be associated with the contest. Refer to the contest entry form which lists participating cache coordinates. Contest entry forms will be available starting September 1st, 2011.

  • Each contest cache has stickers located within the cache that are unique to that state park. Geocachers are to take one sticker from the cache and place it on their entry form in the space provided for the specific state park contest cache.
  • To enter, geocachers must mail their official entry forms to:

  • First place winners that have visited all of the state park contest caches will be awarded as they are postmarked and received. Entries that haven't visited all of the parks will not be awarded until contest is completed.
  • Contest ends September 4th, 2012.
  • Prizes will be limited to one winner per household.
