July 2009

July 4: Celebration at Fort Stevenson State Park. Fireworks display in the picnic area of the park.

July 4: Music in the Park at Turtle River State Park. This year marks the 25th Anniversary of Dick King's Classic Swing Band concert in the park. Come join us at the CCC Shelter from 1-4 pm for this anniversary celebration of big band era music.

July 10 - 11 – Christmas In July Celebration at Lewis and Clark State Park (Hawaiian Theme).  On Friday, starting at 6 p.m., there will be a hotdog feed, bingo, door prizes, entertainment, hula lessons and train rides. Saturday, starting at 10 a.m., there will be children's games, crafts and limbo. At 6:30 p.m. there is a Christmas cookie social, kids' parade, bingo, door prizes, singing, and tree decorating. At 8:15 p.m. Quentana Biffert of Halliday, will perform. She was named Country Gospel Music Association Teenage performer of the year and yodeler of the year in 2008.

July 11: Great Planers Salmon Club Outing at Lake Sakakawea State park.

July 11-12: Sodbuster Days at Fort Ransom State Park. For more information call (701) 973-4331

July 17-18: ND Governor's Cup Fishing Tournament at Fort Stevenson State Park. There will be 252 teams competing in the Governor's Cup 34th Annual Championship. Flights go out between 7 and 8:30 a.m. Weigh-ins begin at 3 p.m.

July 18: ND Junior Governor's Cup Fishing Derby at Fort Stevenson State Park. This tournment frons from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and is open to those age 17 and younger. Prizes are awarded. The only charge is the park entrance fee.

July 18: CAMPGROUND FUN DAY at Fort Abraham Lincoln State Park.

July 17-19: Wild West Weekend at Cross Ranch.

July 17-19: Christmas in July at Icelandic State Park. Decorate your campsite, it's Christmas all over again!.

July 18: Adult/Child Fishing Tournament at Grahams Island State Park. Contact the Lake Region Anglers Association of Devils Lake. Kids Fest, starting at 10 a.m. at the Sivert Thompson Center.

July 18: Tribute to the Civilian Conservation Corp at Turtle River State Park. Members of the CCC will participate on an informal panel discussion, to reminisce and provide information about life and work with the CCC. There will also be lots of other CCC related information and activities.

July 24-26 4th Annual Halloween in July-Friday-Sunday,Lake Metigoshe State Park.
Everyone is invited and encouraged to bring costumes and candy, decorate campsites and participate in all of the park's frightening events. Take a haunting walk down our spooky trail on Friday night from 9:30-11pm.  Kids can join us at the amphitheater at 10am on Saturday to put on their favorite costumes or get their face painted for trick-or-treating in the modern campground.  Saturday evening will bring yet another scary experience starting at 9:30 pm at the amphitheater.  Come to Lake Metigoshe State Park this weekend, if you dare!

July 25-26: Cabelas National Team Walleye Championship at Grahams Island State Park.

July 30-Aug. 2: North Country Trail Association annual conference. Outdoor enthusiasts are invited to explore the North Country National Scenic Trail in North Dakota during the 2009 Annual North Country Trail Conference hosted by the Sheyenne River Valley Chapter in Valley City.  A full slate of outdoor activities is planned to include a full schedule of hikes, canoeing the Sheyenne, workshops, tours, and nightly entertainment.  The conference will provide learning opportunities, networking, and fun-filled events for the whole family.
