New Entrance Fee FAQ

On August 1, 2017, the price of the Daily Vehicle Pass will increase for the first time since 2000. Additionally, the 2018 Annual Pass, Senior Pass and Veteran Pass will be increasing, effective November 1, 2017, when they become available for purchase. 100% of North Dakota State Parks' entrance and camping fees are used to maintain and operate your park system. This increase in price will help with these efforts.

Why are the entrance fee’s increasing?
The entrance fees are increasing as a result of the House Bill 1019, introduced by the Appropriations Committee, passed by the North Dakota Legislature on April 26, 2017.

When was the last time the price increased for daily and Annual Pass?
The Daily Vehicle Pass was last raised in 2000 from $3 per day to $5 per day. The Annual Pass was last raised in 2005 from $20 to $25.

Will the benefits of my Pass change?
No. All benefits of the current pass stay the same.

What if my current Pass is lost or stolen?
Passes are non-refundable and non-transferable and cannot be replaced if lost or stolen. If lost or stolen, a new pass will need to be purchased.

Who is eligible for a Senior Pass?
Any North Dakota resident 65 years or older are eligible for the Senior Pass. A driver’s license or other document certifying proof of age will be required at time of purchase.

What does the Senior Pass provide?
The Senior Pass has the same benefit as the Annual pass, just available at a discounted price.

Who is eligible for a Veteran Pass?
All North Dakota veterans with service related disabilities may purchase an annual permit for $28. At time of purchase a current VA proof of disability letter or North Dakota DAV/POW license plates is required. ** North Dakota veterans with a 50 percent or greater, service-related disability and former POWs are eligible for one free annual permit.

What does the Veteran Pass provide?
The Veteran Pass has the same benefits as the Annual pass, just available at a discounted price.

How can I purchase a Pass?
All passes may be purchased at:
• Park entrance stations or park offices;
• Through the Online Reservation System www.parkrec.nd.gov
• At North Dakota State Parks Bismarck office located at 1600 E Century Ave, Suite 3.
