Dickens Make-it Take-it Classes

Our team and period reenactors in military and civilian dress will be on hand to educate and entertain the public through historic presentations, games, carols, period food and beverages, historic firearm demonstrations (conditions permitting), gift & decoration-making, and more!


Light the Blockhouse Hike

Join the Fort Abraham Lincoln team as we ring in the 2024 holiday season, flipping the switch on the decorated iconic infantry post blockhouse! The hike will start and end at the park Visitor Center. Don't miss the return of this wonderful annual tradition. Before and after the hike, stay for warm fire pits and a fantastic holiday-themed hot chocolate bar! Hot coffee will also be served.

Sully Creek State Park Renamed Rough Rider State Park with Major Campground Expansion

Bismarck, ND – The North Dakota Parks and Recreation Department is thrilled to announce a bold transformation for Sully Creek State Park. In a proud tribute to the indomitable spirit of Theodore Roosevelt and the legendary Rough Riders, the park will officially become Rough Rider State Park. This renaming celebrates Roosevelt and his Rough Riders’ enduring legacy and our dedication to honoring the rugged beauty and cultural heritage of the West.

Planned power outage at Fort Abraham Lincoln State Park for Monday, Sept. 30

Bismarck, ND – Fort Abraham Lincoln State Park is currently undergoing electrical upgrades to its campground, which will result in a planned power outage on Monday, Sept. 30. The Visitor Center, Museum and On-A-Slant Village will be closed to the public for the day.


Northeast North Dakota communities receive over $4 million for local park projects

Fort Abraham Lincoln State Park gets upgrades; park still accessible for recreation opportunities

Bismarck, ND – One of the most-visited state parks in North Dakota is getting an upgrade! Fort Abraham Lincoln State Park is the oldest state park in North Dakota, and this week the park kicked off a large upgrade project that will give campers significant improvement in power and water delivery to their RVs.
