NEWS RELEASE | FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE | March 24, 2020
State OHV Trails Open as Snowmobile Trails Close
It is that time of year that we need to inform riders the end of our snowmobile season is rapidly approaching. North Dakota law closes public access to snowmobile trails between April 1 and November 1 every year. We ask you to also refrain from using your ATV or OHV on closed snowmobile trails as we do not have permission from landowners for their use during the offseason and have the potential to lose those rights with trespassing concerns.
Again, even if you see a snowmobile trail that is marked, it is unlawful for any person to operate a snowmobile within a highway right of way between April 1 and November 1 of any year.
The good news is we have fantastic Off-Highway Vehicle riding in the state of North Dakota, such as the Roughrider trail south of Mandan near Fort Lincoln Abraham Lincoln State Park or in the Pembina Gorge along with many others. We encourage you to visit our website at https://www.parkrec.nd.gov for more information and always Ride North Dakota First!!
The mission of the North Dakota Parks and Recreation Department is to offer a diversity of recreation opportunities and sustainably manage resources.
