Hike the “Fall Colors Hike,” the ninth in our 12 Months-12 Hikes Challenge. Bring your camera and get some breathtaking views of the fall foliage happening right in your backyard at Fort Abraham Lincoln State Park.
This three-mile hike will be a moderate hike on the multi-use trails. This is not a stroller friendly hike. The hike will follow the Little Solider Trail beginning and ending at the Visitor Center. View map.
Due to the social restrictions of COVID-19, the park will not be hosting any group hiking activities until further notice, and will be making the following changes to our 2020 12 Months – 12 Hikes Challenge adhering to the recommendations from the CDC.
FALL COLOR HIKE SEPT 20 – 27 DETAILS:
- Trail will be on the multi-use single track trails starting at the Visitor Center.
- The trail is approx. a 3-mile loop trail ending back at the Visitor Center.
- Hike will be active from Sept 20– Sept 27 (7 Days).
- On the hike there will be one selfie spot at the halfway point point along the trail. At this point you are required to take a photo that includes yourself/group. You will submit the photo to FALSP via one email to falsp@nd.gov by Sept. 28 to receive your credit for September 2020 hiking challenge hike. Please include your registered name and email with the 2020 Hiking Challenge photo submission.
- Plan ahead for your hike. Pack water, phone, first aid kit, and maybe an extra pair of shoes in case the trail is muddy.
- Always make sure you are following the CDC guidelines and please maintain recommended social distances from others during your visit
- Event is free with a ND State Parks Annual Pass or $7 daily vehicle entrance fee. Purchase online before visiting the park.
