Take a step back in time. Fort Stevenson State Park is hosting the Frontier Military Days event on the Guardhouse Interpretive Center lawn.
Visitors can experience what life was like at an 1870's military fort. The military encampment features authentic tents and gear, living history demonstrations of tomahawk throwing, trader tent, and black powder gun demonstrations. Skills and crafts of the Indian Wars period on display.
Witness the cannon firing at 12:00 noon and 3:30 pm each day. Fort Stevenson Frontier Military Days is sponsored by the Fort Stevenson Foundation, a volunteer organization that sponsored the reconstruction of the original fort's guardhouse. The Guardhouse Interpretive Center houses displays and artifacts about military life in the Dakota Territory. Make time to visit and tour the Guardhouse Interpretive Center.
Event admission is free. The park charges a $7 vehicle entrance fee unless a State Park Annual Pass is displayed. In appreciation of our visitors, Fort Stevenson State Park is proudly offering free daily admission into the park on Sunday, June 27 for all visitors.
