The Outdoor Learning Center at Lake Metigoshe State Park is hosting a day camp for youth ages 10-12 that will focus on valuable life skills in a hands-on setting. Registration fee is $40 and includes lunch, snack and hot chocolate. This camp is limited to 12 participants.
Participants will be indoors for the morning hours prior to heading outdoors for the afternoon to test various survival skills. Participants should be prepared and dressed for the weather.
Activities and topics include survival scenarios, finding food/water, starting fires utilizing various methods, knot tying, shelter construction and orienteering. We'll also enjoy making and eating snow ice cream.
Participants should be dropped off no earlier than 8:15am at the park's main office and picked up at the park's sledding hill at 4:30pm. Participants should bring a sled or tube for the sledding hill to take a few runs while we wait for everyone to get picked up. The sledding hill is located near the warming house.
Registration is now open via http://bit.ly/OLCWINTERCAMP and will close at 11:59pm on December 17.
