Daily & Annual Permits

All vehicles entering a state park must display a valid entrance permit year-round. If a park attendant is not on duty at the entrance station, daily entrance permits must be paid for by using a self-registration system posted at the entrance or online here.

Vehicle entrance permits can be purchased online or through the Call Center at 800.807.4723.

Senior Discount: ND residents age 65 and older are eligible to purchase an annual entrance permit for $28. Senior permits cannot be purchased online. To purchase a senior permit, please visit any state park or our Central Office in Bismarck and one of our team members will sell you one after verifying your ID. Alternatively, you may send a scan or photograph of your ID with a current phone number to be contacted at to parkrec@nd.gov and our team will reach out to conduct the transaction with you over the phone.

Disabled Veterans and Prisoners of War (POW): ND veterans with a 50 percent or greater service-related disability and former POWs are eligible for a free annual lifetime pass. All other ND veterans with service-related disabilities may purchase an annual permit for $28. Requires a current Summary of Benefits Letter issued by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs for proof of disability. Acceptable proof of POW includes DD214 or, if civilian, official written proof from the National Archives Database attesting to former POW status. Contact parkrec@nd.gov for more information.

Q: How can I purchase a gift card?

A: Gift cards are available for purchase online at reserveNDparks.com, through the call center at 800.807.4723, at state park offices or our central office in Bismarck. Click for locations.
 

Q: Can the gift cards be purchased in any dollar amount?

A: There are set dollar amounts ranging from $5-500 for the initial purchase. Gift cards can be reloaded with any amount.
 

Q: What can the gift cards be used for?

A: Gift cards can be used to pay for online purchases through reserveNDparks.com by selecting the ‘Pay with PrePaid Card’ tab at checkout. They may also be redeemed at all state-operated retail locations within North Dakota state parks and recreation areas.

Privately-owned concessionaires who operate on state park property will not be able to redeem the gift cards. (e.g. Fort Lincoln Trolley, food trucks, marina fuel, OHV/snowmobile safety classes) Special event and tour tickets sold online through ShowClix cannot be purchased using a gift card.
 

Q: Does the gift card expire?

A: No, the gift card balance does not expire.
 

Q: What if I lose my gift card?

A: The North Dakota Parks and Recreation Department (NDPRD) is not responsible for replacing lost or stolen cards.
 

Q: How do I load my gift card onto my online reservation account?

A: Customers should follow these steps to add their prepaid gift card to their online reservation account:

  1. Go online to reserveNDparks.com.
  2. Click My Account > Login
  3. Login with an existing account or click Create New Account
  4. Once you’re logged in, click your username in the top right corner and select My Prepaid Cards.
  5. Click Add New Prepaid Card to input your gift card information, which allows you to monitor your balance and easily make online purchases, even in the absence of the physical card.
     

Q: How can I check my gift card balance?

A: Use the steps above to login/create an account online and add your gift card to your account. You can also check your balance by calling 701.328.5357 or by asking a state park attendant to look up your account using the gift card number.
 

Q: Is there an inactivity fee or low balance fee?

A: No, there are no fees associated with NDPRD gift cards.
 

Q: How long does it take to receive a card purchased online and is there a shipping fee?

A: There is no shipping fee when you purchase a gift card online. Cards should arrive via U.S. Mail within 7-10 business days.
 

Q: What if I’m purchasing online as a gift? Do I type my name or the recipient’s name?

We recommend inputting the recipient’s name, phone number and email address under the Guest Information section during online checkout. It’s important to make sure the address you input in this section is where you would like the card to be mailed. 
 

Q: What happens if NDPRD changes online systems?

A: All gift cards will maintain their current balances and be moved over to the new system.
