Lake Metigoshe State Park is hosting its Winter Wild Outdoor Women (WOW) Event February 21-23, 2020.  This event is primarily for ladies over the age of 16 who are looking to learn or refine skills associated with a variety of North Dakota’s outdoor recreational activities.  WOW provide opportunities for participants interested in outdoor recreation to gather with other enthusiasts, try new activities and equipment, acquire basic skills and gain the confidence to safely enjoy the outdoors or purchase their own gear to continue with the activities after the event if they so choose.  Lake Metigoshe State Park holds WOW events in February and September to highlight various outdoor recreation opportunities.

Bring your Valentine this #Valentines Season to Fort Abraham Lincoln State Park, because we have the perfect way to spend some quality time with that special someone or the whole family. Join us for the annual “Sweetheart Hike” on Sunday, Feb. 16th beginning at 1 p.m. The hike about 2 miles over the hills and through the snow, so wear those snow pants and boots and bring a sled to pull.
 

Cross Ranch State Park would like to invite you to a legendary winter celebration! Starting at 1:00 pm, stop by the River Peoples Visitor Center at Cross Ranch State Park to enjoy a variety of soups and refreshments to fill your belly and warm you up. The most exclusive dining experience in Bismarck and Mandan for your sweetheart this Valentine’s Day is a romantic dinner at Fort Abraham Lincoln State Park.

There is no better way to impress your sweetheart in 2020 than a romantic dinner in the elegance and ambiance of the commanding officers quarters at Fort Abraham Lincoln on Valentine’s Day. This is a very limited event and tickets must be purchased in advance. Relax as you listen to the music of the period performed by the talented Nora Salveson and enjoy a specially prepared dinner for you and your sweetheart.

Come out and experience a candlelit hike under the full moon. The Full Moon in February is known as the Snow Moon. Cross-country ski, snowshoe or hike, park staff will use candle luminaries to light the trail. Meet at the Visitor Center at 6:00 pm. Afterward, enjoy snacks and refreshments.

Fort Stevenson State Park is pleased to host an Ojibway Snowshoe Lacing Workshop on Saturday, February 1, 2020, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. This instructor-led workshop will give participants the opportunity to lace their own pair of Ojibway snowshoes. The cost is $85.00 per participant; the fee includes a snowshoe kit, lunch, and snack. The registration deadline is January 1, 2020. Class size is limited to 12 participants — register by calling Fort Stevenson State Park at 701-337-5576.

The North Dakota Parks & Recreation Department is hosting a Land & Water Conservation Fund Grant Workshop. We invite anyone who is looking to apply for a Land & Water Grant during the current or a future cycle. This workshop will cover a general overview of the Land and Water Conservation Fund, Title VI compliance, grant application writing tips, and more!
 

Join us for Flakes of Fury, Fort Stevenson's 2nd Annual Fat Tire Bike Race! The race route is a series of laps beginning at the Visitor Center. Total distance 13 miles. The course starts with asphalt and heads onto the trail for varied terrain, the condition will depend on the weather.

Unfortunately, we are canceling the snowmobile safety class in Minot (January 18, 2020) due to lack of interest.

Your child can take an online version of the course at https://www.snowmobilecourse.com/usa/northdakota/ and receive the same certification.

The North Dakota Parks and Recreation Department is hosting a youth snowmobile safety class in Minot. This class will certify riders 10 years of age and older who do not have a valid driver's license.
